April 19th, 2020 – Devotion With Pastor Dan
(Joshua 1:9 – NKJV)…..”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Oh how we forget that very truth! How many times are we afraid because we forget that God is with us wherever we go. Maybe we just haven’t come to believe that His promise to us is that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Over and over the Bible tells us to not be afraid. When you stop and think about it — it’s ridiculous to be afraid when God is with you — and for you (Psalm 118:5-7), (Hebrews 11:6).
Paul was led by the Lord to write to Timothy to tell him that he had no need to fear (2 Timothy 1:7). But if we are anything like Timothy, and I think we are, then we need to be reminded of the same thing through the word of God. What are you afraid of today? Is it a virus? Is it employment? Is it the thought that you can’t control anything? How long could the list be of things we may fear? As humans, we tend to forget that we don’t need to be afraid. Maybe that’s why God said so many
times to “Fear not!” Here are just a couple of examples.
(Luke 12:7 – NKJV)….. “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
(Isaiah 41:13 NKJV)…..For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’
Here are some more verses for you to dig into, and study on fear:
(Isaiah 41:10) (Psalm 56:3) (Philippians 4:6-7) (John 14:27) (1 John 4:18) (Psalm 94:19) (Psalm 23:4) (Matthew 6:34) (Isaiah 35:4) (Psalm 27:1) (Deuteronomy 31:6) (Mark 5:36) (Psalm 91:1-16)
