April 22, 2020 – Devotion With Pastor Dan
It is early Wednesday morning here in beautiful Rathdrum Idaho, and from the looks of it, we may have a little bit of rain today. But, that doesn’t mean it will not be a nice day, of course, every day should be nice and wonderful in the life of a Christian right? No matter how cloudy it seems. There are the cloudy days that bring rain, and there are cloudy days that bring despair when trials come. It’s true, trials come and are difficult to get through at times, you know that though. Yet some might say, “Well, Pastor Dan, life is great, and I am doing fine!” This is one of the pat answers you might hear in their efforts to portrait to others that they have their lives altogether. Maybe it is because they just don’t want people to know that they struggle, or that they hurt, so they put up a wall of defense that looks good to others. We have all done that at one time or another, this I’m sure of. If you happen to be going through a difficult trial at the moment. Maybe your employment has been affected, maybe your marriage is struggling, maybe finances are strained, maybe there is an illness, sometimes life is plain hard and difficult, and even at times overwhelming. For sure, this is how many feel right now with all the Coronavirus hysteria that is brought to us by our media outlets. People are worried, sacared, any many are unsure of what the tomorrows to come will bring. But let me remind you of something, we do have a wonderful God who loves us and takes care of us.
We have a Wonderful, Compassionate, Merciful God as the Scriptures tell us. Go ahead, read these verses, and listen to what they say: (Psalm 98:1) (1 Chronicles 16:24) (2 Corinthians 1:3) (Psalm 86:15) (Psalm 103:8) (Psalm 116:5) (2 Samuel 24:14) (Ephesians 2:4) (Titus 3:5) (1 Peter 1:3)
If you are struggling with a difficult situation today where you might be losing hope, remember we always have a choice: focus on God, and His promises, or focus on the problem and give up. Problems, no matter how huge they may seem to us, are no problem to God. Nothing is too hard, or complicated, for God to solve. But God wants us to trust Him, which at times seems too huge to even do. But trust in our Lord is a must.
So what should you do when you are being tempted and feel like giving in and giving up? Pray! Run to the Word of God! Just keep your focus on the Lord and rejoice in His faithfulness. Remember that God cannot lie, and will never fail. God will see you through. The Scriptures tell us in (Hebrews 10:23)….Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. When the world, the flesh, and the devil tries to steal your faith, tries to get you to not believe what the Word of God tells us, don’t let it happen! Hold fast! You and I must believe what the Word of God says concerning His saints (believers). Don’t be moved by the circumstances. Now this is just a thought for you to ponder. Have a wonderful day!
