May 12th, 2020 – Morning Devotion With Pastor Dan
(Romans 5:1-2)…..Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
What is amazing about God’s righteousness (the righteousness of Christ) is it is free to anyone who places faith in Jesus Christ. What is righteousness then, and why do we need it? Righteousness means right-wise-ness, or being right. So righteousness is right standing or good standing with God. The reason we need God’s righteousness is that we are not right with God in standing, we are sinners dying in our own unrighteousness. We need the righteousness of Jesus Christ to replace our failed, vile, putrid, self-righteousness.
It does not mean human “perfection.”Righteousness is a gift from God — not something you can earn or achieve. God simply declares that you are innocent, as far as He is concerned, because you believe in Jesus, and that makes you righteous, you are imputed the righteousness of Jesus Himself.
(1 Corinthians 1:30-31)…..But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”
If you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ you ARE righteous, that is in right-standing with God. And as a believer in Jesus, you will never be more righteous than you are right now.
(ROMANS 3:21-22)…..But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God which is through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;
Romans 10 gives instructions on how to become righteous.
(Romans 10:9-10)…..That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.
If the Lord Jesus Christ is your Savior, then this morning give Him praise that He has imputed His righteousness to you, knowing that when God sees you, He sees the righteousness of His Son in you.
