(Psalm 95:1-6 -NASB)…..O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods, in whose hand are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for it was He who made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
It often seems to me that the world is changing so fast it feels more out of control each day. Have you ever felt that way? In a world where nothing stays the same, I find comfort in reflecting on a stabilizing truth found in (Hebrews 13:8)….Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. This verse helps me enlarge my vision of God. What comes into your mind when you think of God?
The Scriptures reveal that the living God, the maker of heaven and earth, He is eternal, perfect and unchanging. God dwells in eternity, He is the first and the last – the beginning and the end of everything. God is holy and just. He is the Creator, Savior and judge of all the earth. God’s wisdom, love and power are limitless, boundless and measureless. His goodness, mercy, love, righteousness, justice, and much more, define Who He is. He knows everything, sees everything, is always present, and mighty in power. Our God has never been confused or unsure of Himself or His divine will. He is the definition and substance of truth. He knows the difference between good and evil, the righteous and the wicked, and always keeps his promises to those who are called according to His purpose. Just a quick look at how the Scriptures reveal our God this morning. It’s important to “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

A. W. Tozer writes, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” While the Bible is about both God and man, the focal point is God. Unfortunately many people (even church people) have an extremely low view of God. Currently the Jesus many people believe in has very little power. He is often pitied more than respected. Modern-day concepts of our risen Lord do not consistently conform to what he is really like. Regardless of our statements of faith, what we actually think and believe about God is the most important thing about us.
What are your thoughts about God this morning? Who do you say He is? Do you have a high view or a low view of Him today? Drop me a comment at the top of this devotion and let me know.
