Why We Need The Gospel Of Christ

1.  To Be Saved

a.  Why do we need the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • A message Jesus wanted proclaimed to every believer in the world –(Mark 16:15)
  • Without question – we need the gospel of Jesus Christ…….
  • The gospel contains God’s power to save those who believe
  • Read:(Mark 16:16) (Romans 1:16)
  • To purify souls – causing them to be born again – (1 Peter 1:22-25)
  • To produce fruit in those who hear and receive God’s grace –(Colossians 1:5-6)
  • We need the gospel to be saved by God’s power
b.  God's powerful gospel includes both facts and commands that are given to us
  • Facts
  1. Jesus was crucified for our sins – (1 Corinthians 15:1-3)
  2. Jesus was raised from the dead – (1 Corinthians 15:4)
  3. Jesus is exalted as Lord and Savior – (Acts 2:33-36)
  4. Jesus is coming again, to judge the world – (Acts 17:30-31)
  • Commands
  1. We must believe the gospel concerning Jesus – (Mark 16:15-16)
  2. We must repent of our sins – (Acts 2:37-38) (Acts 3:19) (Acts 17:30-31)
  3. We must confess our faith in Christ – (Romans 10:9-10)
c.  The promises of God for believing the gospel include.......
  1. The remission of sins through the blood of Jesus – (Acts 2:38) (Ephesians 1:7)
  2. The gift of the Holy Spirit to empower the Christian – (Acts 2:38-39) (Ephesians 3:16)
  3. The gift of everlasting life received at the end – (John 3:16) (Romans 6:22-23)
  • We need the gospel, not in part but in its entirety
d.  Mankind's need for the gospel in order to be saved should be rather clear - For those who have been saved by the gospel – they need the reminder daily of its work and power
  • We need the gospel to remind us…….
  • That it was God who loved us first, and not we Him – (1John 4:9-10)
  • What true love really is – (1 John 3:16)
  • That since Jesus died for our sins – He will certainly save us from His wrath – (Romans 5:9)
  • That since God gave us His Son, He will certainly be with us in all things – (Romans 8:31-39)
CONCLUSION

a.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is "good news"...
  • For the sinner who wants to be saved
  • For the saint who is saved
b.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly the "best news"...
  • Of which we should never be ashamed to share – (Romans 1:15-16)
  • In which we should place our confidence and boasting – (Galatians 6:14)
