Morning Devotions With Pastor Dan
June 24th, 2020(Revelation 19:11-16)…..Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He [a]had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Jesus rode into Jerusalem the first time on a donkey – now He comes on a white horse. What is the difference? – Compare (Zechariah 9:9-10) and (Matthew 21:1-11). The white horse of judgment refers to royalty and power, it is used to conquer a Kings enemies!
Now, the One who ascended to heaven – (Acts 1:9), the One who is at the Father’s right hand in glory – (Hebrews 8:1; 10:12) and (1 Peter 3:22), now comes in victory! How many in the world are ready to see such a magnificent occurrence? A good study of (Psalm 2) will refresh your thinking as to Who sits on the throne, the One who is soon to come. What is the King of kings, and the Lord of lords like? What is it about the King that is so striking when He is looked upon?
Notice His description given here in (Revelation 19).
- Faithful – True – (John 14:6) (Revelation 1:5; 3:7; 3:14). True to His word – He will return – (Matthew 24:27-31).
- In righteousness, He judges and makes war – (Psalm 96:13; 98:9) (Isaiah 11:3-5) (John 5:25-30) (Revelation 20:11-15). God is our defender – He also wages war on behalf of His people (2 Thessalonians 1:3-10).
3. His eyes are like a flame (blazing) fire. Wow! What a sight to see. Take a moment and compare – (Revelation 1:9-17). That’s a pretty awesome description of our King. Nothing will escape His – righteous – piercing – eyes. The result – His enemies will be – judged – sentenced – destroyed fairly
4. On His head, there are many crowns. In the Greek, they are called “diadems”: not merely (Greek, “stephanoi”) garlands of victory -but a rather a royal crown
- Crown of Righteousness – (2 Timothy 4:8)
- Crown of Glory – (1 Peter 5:4)
- Crown of life – (James 1:12) (Revelation 2:10)
- He has a name written on him that no one knows but he Himself. The true name of God is veiled from us. His robe is dipped in blood
- Read: (Isaiah 63:1-3)
- His name is called the word of God
- Read: (John 1:1; 1:14) (1 John 1:1) (1 John 5:7)
- His name is the Word of God refers to – His Power – His Lordship – His Sovereignty
What an amazing description of our Lord. Just think about who is coming with Him when He comes to judge this world. They are the armies of heaven. Who are they? They are saints – along with Angels (Revelation 19:8) (Jude 14) (Matthew 25:31). Notice something very amazing here – they do not fight – they are unarmed – no need to fight with Jesus – He alone is All-Powerful. He alone fights the battle. He has the powerful Sword – Word – (Hebrews 4:11-13). He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. What does that mean? It means He is the one who rules over all the earth (1 Timothy 6:13-16). Praise! Praise! Praise! Jesus is King! And He is soon to arrive a second time. Be ready!
