“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching for reproof for correction for training in righteousness that the man of God may be complete equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16
Dan M. is filling in for Pastor Dan this week.
I would like to look at three things from this text. 1. We can see the nature of scripture. 2. The function of scripture. 3. The result of scripture.
1. The nature of scripture. The word “inspiration” is a compound word in the Greek literally translated “God-breathed.” It is the nature of Scripture as God breathed that makes the Bible unique from all other writings and uniquely profitable for all life and godliness to the believer, 2Peter 1:3-4. We should understand that the resource we have as believers is Divine, flowing from the Eternal One Himself. If God is going to call us out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his beloved Son, then he is going to give us what is necessary, or God breathed, to completely equip us for every good work. The ONLY thing given to believers defined as God breathed is “all Scripture.” In In context from 3:15 to 4:2, “all Scripture” refers to the Old and New Testaments. Brethren if we are going to be fully equipped for every good work we need to avail ourselves of this eternal resource that has been so graciously handed down to us from God, His Word, wherein we meet God and know Him.
