The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me – A prayer to the God of my life – (Psalm 42:8).
When I think of how God commands His Loving-kindness towards us in the daytime, I am reminded of His promises of mercy and grace towards us, and they are great. The Scriptures declare to us that His mercy is great – (Isaiah 54:6-7), sure – (Isaiah 55:1-3), abundant – (1 Peter 1:1-3), and new every morning – (Lamentations 3:22-23). How does this make you feel this morning? Thankful? Full of gratitude? The LORD is so gracious to us – (Ephesians 2:4-9).
Grace is defined as unmerited favor, it is that which bestows or occasions, pleasure, delight, or causes favorable regard. It is the kindly act of lovingkindness and goodwill with reference to the Divine favor. God’s grace is more than mere passive pity, it expresses itself in real, concrete acts of love – (Romans 5:8). God’s grace runs through all He has done for man’s salvation, from revealing His plan of salvation – (1 Corinthians 2:9-12), and raising sinners to a new life in Christ – (Romans 6:4-5). The truth is we need His grace because….
- All have sinned – (Romans 3:10, 23)
- For there is no one who does not sin
- Read: (1 Kings 8:46) (Proverbs 20:9) (Ecclesiastes 7:20)
- Since all sinned – all are under the sentence of death – (Ezekiel 18:19-20)
God, in His matchless love, provided the ransom price for man’s sins. His Son (our Lord) was given (came) to die in man’s (your) place – (2 Corinthians 5:21) (1 Peter 1:17-25). And while the grace of God is demonstrated in many ways, none is greater than its manifestation in His Son, through Whom He poured out His Loving-kindness on us (Ephesians 2:7) (Titus 3:4-6). And that love (His love) that was (is) poured out on us is great – (Nehemiah 9:17), excellent – (Psalm 36:7), good – (Psalm 69:16), marvelous – (Psalm 17:7) (Psalm 31:21), everlasting – (Isaiah 54:8), merciful – (Psalm 117:2), and is better than life – (Psalm 63:3).
We ought to be grateful for the loving-kindness, favor, and grace of our God because without God’s loving-kindness we would all be condemned to an eternity void of God, love, life, hope, etc.
