(Romans 8:31-39)…..31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can beagainst us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In the midst of a very lonely and difficult time God brought David to the place where he could say…“this I know, that God is for me!” (Psalm 56:9). If you had asked him how he would get out of his present troubles he would have probably replied….‘I do not know.’ If you had asked him how or when he would become king, he would have replied ‘I do not know.’ But this I do know,’ ‘I know that God is for me, and if God is for me, then He will make a way and that is all I need to know!’ This then is the question for us….”Can you say that God is for you? – Right here – Right now? Do you know this to be true? And not just in your head, but can you also stand on it when it doesn’t seem (from outward circumstances) to be true? I hope we can say and believe the same as David’s here.
God Himself is on the side of those who are His. Who can overthrow God’s plan that He has for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. He will protect those who are His from any foe that would try to remove them from Himself (Psalm 27:1-5) (Psalm 46:1-7) (Isaiah 50:7-9) (John 10:22-30) (1 John 4:4).
Think for a minute of just how much God loves you. Because God loves you so much He chose to give us His own Son Jesus Christ to redeem us (Isaiah 53:10) (2 Corinthians 5:17-21) (John 15:13). His death became my death, His payment became my payment. God did not save a single one of us to lose us along the way. That truth is so exciting, so encouraging, to me as a believer in Christ. How amazing is it that there is no one who can say anything before God that would cause Him to change His mind about His you who are His (Isaiah 54:17) (Romans 8:1). Are you persuaded that He loves you, forever? Then know this…..God is for you!
