How do we know that God is faithful? Well, the Bible tells us that He is (Exodus 34:6) (Psalm100:5) (Psalm 117:2). But we also know by experience, at least that should be part of our testimony as Christian’s, right? What the Christian should know of his/her God is that He is faithful to His name (Psalm 106:8), and faithful to His character. One of the most powerful words to describe God’s character is the Hebrew word “hesed” which is translated “steadfast love” (Deuteronomy 7:9). Wow! He is also known as the God who is upright, therefore we can trust that He will always be consistent with what is right (Deuteronomy 32:4).
He is faithful with His word, which I am truly grateful for. When God says something, He does what He says (Isaiah 25:1). Are you happy that God does not change what He says? Consider His word that is filled with the promises He has made to you who believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that He never revokes those promises by changing the things He has said.
The Bible has much to say about the faithfulness of God
- His faithfulness is unlimited – (Psalm 36:5)
- His faithfulness is abounding – (Lamentations 3:22-23)
- He is faithful to help His people – (1 Corinthians 10:13)
- He is faithful to those He saves – (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)
- God is also faithful in all His promises – (Hebrews 2:17)
Just think, there are literally dozens of Scriptures speaking of God’s faithfulness, none however may be the most life-changing as those that proclaim His forgiveness. There are many Old Testament prophecies promising a coming Messiah (Jesus the Savior), and God’s faithful promise was fulfilled in the New Testament when He sent Jesus to atone for our sins. No matter what sins we have committed, no matter how bad we are, God is faithful to forgive us if we come to Him in repentance and put our faith in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 7:9-10) (1 John 1:7-9). It is good news for us that God sent His Son, and that through Him we may have everlasting life (Matthew 1:21-22) (John 3:1-21). Jesus Christ died to be our atonement of sin (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10) (Hebrews 9:13-22) and was ordained to be the author of eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:5-10)
Regardless of where you are in life the Lord can be trusted to stand by His promises. As a result, He will save you if you will come to Jesus (Romans 10:9-10) (Acts 16:31), because He is faithful. He will hear you when you call on Him (Jeremiah 33:3) (Matthew 7:7-11) because He is faithful. He will meet all your needs here (Matthew 6:25-34) (Philippians 4:19) because He is faithful. He will give you grace sufficient for every trial (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) because He is faithful. He will give you His peace in the midst of every circumstance of life (Philippians 4:6-7) because He is faithful. He will walk with you every step of the way to glory (Matthew 28:20) (Hebrews 13:5) because He is faithful. He will keep you and take you to Heaven when this life is over (John 6:37- 40,44) because He is faithful.
Listen, God is so faithful that anyone who seeks Him can find Him. As we implement our faith we will begin to realize more and more God’s faithfulness towards us (2 Thessalonians 3:1-3). And we will come to realize that the God who is declared in His word (the Bible) is the faithful God and there is no other that can do all He can and has done, or will do, on the Christians behalf. I trust that you know the God who is always FAITHFUL.
