(Mark 4:37-40)…..And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace,be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
All of us at one time or the other have questioned whether God cares for us when we have faced difficulties. It is easy to wonder why things are so tough, or if God truly loves us, as His word says.
When the disciples thought they were going to sink in the storm, even though Jesus was in the boat with them, they cried out to Him. And Jesus did deliver them from danger. Then, Jesus rebuked His disciples because they were fearful, and didn’t handle the situation themselves. Why didn’t the Lord just take care of the dire situation sooner? Why did Jesus let them nearly sink before He intervened? Certainly to increase their faith. Maybe it was also so they could understand His love and care for them.
Does Jesus Care? The answer is YES! There may have been times in our life when we thought Jesus had failed us, but we would be wrong! Jesus has never failed us. Oh, we have failed Him many times. Through all of our immaturity, through all of our failures, through all of our ignorance, Jesus has always taken care of us. We always have our needs met. He always helps us and works things out for us, eventually. It just doesn’t always happen at the time and in the way we think it would.
Over time I have learned I don’t know much. But Jesus does! He knows everything. He knows the future, and I can trust Him, because He loves me, and cares for me. And He loves you just as much as He loves me.
(1 Corinthians 1:9)…..God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
