(Isaiah 40:31)…..But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
What do you think about this verse of Scripture? When you think about it there is actually a very difficult part to this verse. A certain action that is very hard to do for most, and certainly for myself. That is, to “wait” on the Lord. Yep, how about you? Is that difficult for you? Listen, I get it, time is precious. Our lives are full of business, and that is because life is busy. How many people are so busy with life that their time in the word of God is diminished, and they think they are too busy to spend time in regular daily prayer. Oh, but that is ok, so we think. Is it wise to have that attitude?
In the Scripture passage above, the literal meaning is “those who look to the Lord expectantly will exchange strength.” Have you ever thought of this passage like that? What is prayer then? Prayer is an exchange of strength. God offers to exchange what He has for what we have. As we spend time looking to Him, this exchange takes place. What strength do we have? Not much, it is so diminished from the life we live, from the sinful world we live in, and from the enemy we fight. So really we have nothing in ourselves to give us the daily strength we need. What strength does God have? He has, wisdom understanding, insight, guidance, favor, influence, health, He has everything we need!
Exchanging the little strength you have for the strengths of God is a great trade! So today, go to Him for the strength that you so desperately need, wait on Him (trust Him), and He will arrive to strengthen you in due time. Don’t miss this wonderful benefit.
