God’s Anointed Remains

Posted on April 16, 2021April 16, 2021
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – April 16th, 2021

No matter how dark the times, or just how wicked our nation becomes, we can rest with assurance that Jesus Christ, the Righteous King, still reigns as Lord and Ruler over all the earth (Matthew 28:18) (Colossians 1:15-18). His Righteousness and His justice will be made known to all God’s creation, (Philippians 2:5-11).

Notice, David’s question, “Why do the heathen rage (ban together), and the people plot (plan) a vain thing?” The heathen are the unbelieving, those who reject the living God, who reject His Word, who will finally will everything associated with His Kingdom.

Even today, the heathen are given to unbelief and hardness against the Living God and His Son Christ Jesus by mocking, by belittling, by persecuting those who have faith in Jesus Christ. Notice, the wicked plot in vain (that is) they plan to undermine God, His Word, His authority, etc. In all man’s planning it is a vain (worthless) attempt.

The wicked do not want to be under the authority of Jesus Christ. They will take counsel against the LORD and against His Anointed (Messiah). Who are these “kings and rulers” who take counsel together to rid themselves of God’s anointed (Matthew 12:9-14) (Matthew 26:1-5) (Matthew 27:1-2) (Mark 11:15-19) (Luke 19:14). This is more clearly seen in (Acts 4:13-31).

Many attempts have been made over the centuries to try and extinguish the gospel of Jesus Christ, even today in parts of our country with its politicians, government leaders’ court justices (lawyers) school administrators ,etc. rage against Jesus Christ, working tirelessly to remove His name and His influence from the public arena making way for a humanistic, self-exalting lust pursuing, society without God and without hope.

Why do the wicked act this way? Because without faith in Jesus Christ, it is all man knows how to do (Proverbs 21:10) (Isaiah 57:20) (Romans 3:9-20). The Response of A Righteous God (2:4-6). He who sits in the heavens shall laugh because He knows man’s plans to do away with God’s Anointed are vain (Psalm 37:12-13) says….“The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth. The Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.  It is God alone who is Soveriegn, not man, man cannot do anything to rid himself of God’s rule God’s Anointed or any of God’s will that He has purposed to happen (Psalm 29:10) (Isaiah 46:8-11) (Daniel 2:20-22)….(Daniel 7:27) tells us, “….His Kingdom will be an everlasting Kingdom..” NOTHING OR NO ONE CAN STOP HIS ETERNAL PURPOSE.

What is His predetermined plan? Notice (2:6), to set His King on His holy hill of Zion, that is, enthrone Jesus as King in Jerusalem. He has set His Only Begotten Son to rule as King (Ephesians 1:15-23).

Serve the Lord with fear. Fear of the Lord is greatly missing in much of the Church today, a holy reverence and awe of the greatness and might of the Lord. Kiss the Son lest He be angry, a kiss to a ruler meant submission, complete loyalty and wholehearted devotion. Have you “Kissed the Son”? Have you come to Christ the King with all your heart and offered complete surrender, loyalty, love and allegiance to Him as your King? Have you offered to Him wholehearted obedience to His Word and His Lordship?People will either embrace Him, honor Him and submit to Him, or they will one day bow before Him with great fear, terror and under His fury! Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.
