He Is My Helper

Posted on April 27, 2021April 27, 2021
Daily Devotion With
Pastor Dan Nickerson – April 27th, 2021

Our helper in every time of need is the LORD Himself. And every believer can say “the LORD is my helper”. When we are in need friends come to our aid, but they can’t really help us because their resources are inadequate. But the Lord’’s resources are never inadequate. The Lord’s name is El-Shaddai (Genesis 17:1) which means that He is “the “Enough God.” Is God enough for you? The truth is, He is enough for all who believe on Him and trust’s Him for Salvation. He will be with us always  (Hebrews 13:5-6).

Just think how the LORD has been our Helper. He provides Jesus Christ.….

  1. Who is our Mediator (intercessor – go between) – (1 Timothy 2:5)
  2. Who is our Advocate (parakletos – comforter – consoler) – (1 John 2:1-2)
  3. Who is our merciful and faithful High Priest – (Hebrews 2:17-18)

Christ is the salvation of his people. No one can snatch a believer out of the hand of God (John 10:28-29). He is the only person who is, appointed, provided, promised, and sent to be the Savior of mankind – (Acts 4:12). Jesus alone is the author of salvation (Hebrews 5:9). Sometimes we need to be reminded that our God saves us, fights for us, protects us, and keeps us, and never stops loving us.

I want you to notice what the Psalmist says in (94:22)…..But the LORD has been my defense, and my God the rock of my refuge. Many people have experienced a time when they fought with, or had contention with someone else, whether it has been physical, spiritual, or emotional. A time when we have felt as if we were being overwhelmed by our adversary. This is how David felt in (Psalm 35), where he is hurting and is in despair over his enemies constant attacks. But David in the midst of such a battle, with his confidence down, asks the LORD for protection (Psalm 35:1-2).

The shield was an instrument of defense and David understood that God was his only defense his only help (Psalm 5:12) (Psalm 28:6-7) (Psalm 119:114) (Psalm 144:2) (Proverbs 30:5). God surrounds us as a shield and keeps us by His protection. Isn’t that a wonderful blessing? In our culture people tend to look to the worldly things for stability and hope. The truth is all that the world has to offer us for stability will fail us and leave us discouraged, frustrated – and full of despair. Listen, there is a Rock we can trust, who is able, a Rock that will not change no matter what comes our way (Hebrews 13:8). God alone was David’s Rock of strength (Psalm 18:1-2, 31, 46) (Psalm 62:1-7). God alone must be our Rock of strength. We must trust Him and Him alone when we are faced with the troubles and temptations of this life (Psalm 40:1-3). The LORD is our strength (Psalm 46:1-3). He is the saving refuge (strength) of His anointed (Psalm 20:6).

He has plucked the believer out of his/hers sins, out of the cesspool of life, and has set his/her feet upon a rock, a firm, strong, unmovable rock that is Jesus. As the hymn goes – “On this solid rock I stand ,all other ground is sinking sand.” Rejoice in this if you are a Christian. Can you and I trust that God will answer us the same way in difficult times? YES! I want to remind you this morning that you can cry out to God for anything, and that He will hear you, He will answer, He is our Rock (solid – unmovable Savior) will we trust Him?
