(Colossians 1:9-12)…..9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
Most Christians yearn to grow spiritually; to be stronger, to resist temptation more fervently, to walk with Christ more fully. At least that ought to be the desire of every disciple of Jesus Christ. But we have three adversaries that we fight constantly, that are against our growth and maturing in our Christianity (1 John 1:15-17) (Ephesians 6:12). The devil is our constant adversary, diverting us, discouraging us, and diminishing our faith in the strength of the Lord. If we know that, we can have victory in the way that Peter tells us. That we would submit to God, resist the devil, and he would flee from us. Here are some ways to help us grow.
- DESIRE TO GROW, PRAY, AND LEARN TO GROW – (Ephesians 3:14-19) (Colossians 1:9-12) (Philippians 1:9–11).
- READ GOD’S WORD OFTEN – (Hebrews 4:12-13).
- CHOOSE GOOD FRIENDS – (1 Corinthians 15:33-34)
- THINK THE RIGHT THINGS – (Proverbs 23:7) (Philippians 4:8)
- EXAMINE CONSTANTLY – (2 Corinthians 13:5)
- WORSHIP OFTEN – (Acts 2:42) (Colossians 3:16)
Spiritual growth has wonderful benefits now, and in the world to come. May God help us to grow, as we commit ourselves to His ways of doing so.
