Many people live their lives with little regard to the goodness of God. Unaware or forgetful of how gracious God has been, and is toward them (Psalm 33:5). The truth is the Lord has shown His goodness to all people. Have you given much thought to the goodness of God towards you (Romans 2:1-11)? His goodness led you and I to repentance, that’s how good He is! And we do not deserve such goodness. Repentance is intended to produce Godly sorrow in us (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). Godly sorrow produces a turn from sin to God (2 Corinthians 7:11). God has been so good to us in giving us a way to be set free from sin when He didn’t have to.
How else has God shown His goodness toward you – the Christian?
- He is rich in grace – (Ephesians 1:7)
- He is rich in mercy – (Ephesians 2:4-5)
- He is ready to forgive – (Psalm 86:1-5)
- He is rich in supplying our needs – (Philippians 4:19)
- He protects those who are His – (Psalm 31:19-20)
How should we respond to God’s goodness that He pours out on His own (us). We should never forget how good God has been to us (Psalm 145:1-9). I know we sometimes tend to look at the circumstances of the moment, and tend to forget that it is our Fathers pleasure to give us His goodness. He gives us His goodness so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ is glorified in us, and us in Him.
What is it about the name of Jesus that God wants to glorify in us, and us in Him (Isaiah 9:6)(Philippians 2:9-11)(Revelation 19:16)? There is power in the Name of Jesus
- To save – (Acts 4:12)
- To answer prayer – (John 14:12-14)
- To cast out demons – (Acts 16:16-18)
- To heal the sick – (Acts 3:6-8)
This morning let us exalt the name of Jesus Christ that He may be glorified in us (Psalm 34:1-3). Have a blessed day!
