Give Him Glory

Posted on May 28, 2021May 28, 2021
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – May 28th, 2021

(Romans 16:21-27)…..21 Timothy, my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my countrymen, greet you. 22 I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, greet you in the Lord. 23 Gaius, my host and the host of the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the treasurer of the city, greets you, and Quartus, a brother. 24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. 25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith 27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

In this passage we see a few words that define our Christian faith. Notice, the words grace and gospel. There may be no sweeter word known to mankind than grace. It is  by Grace that God has granted us His merciful kindness, turning us to Christ, keeping us, strengthening us, and giving us the ability to grow in the grace and knowledge of Himself. The word gospel, that great word that ought to cause us to praise our Lord, It is the word Gospel which means, good news, the glad tidings of salvation through Christ Jesus. It is the message of His death, His victorious resurrection, which brought us peace and hope (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Our verses today introduce us to another great word that ought to cause us to praise our Lord. It is the word “glory” which means, splendor, brightness, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace, majesty, and supreme absolute perfection. God alone is worthy of glory! Not us!

The Word says that He alone is wise. Only God could have designed such a flawless, perfect plan of redemption. Only He would have conceived of giving the innocent for the guilty. Only He would have designed a plan as simple as…. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved”

Giving glory of the Father is through the agency of His Son. For us to glorify God we must do so through a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ because there is no other way to approach Him, no other way to serve Him, no other way to know Him. Jesus alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Can you say for sure that you have believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ and now are a child of God, in possession of eternal life in Christ? If not, today, if He has opened your eyes to the need for salvation, repent of your sin and believe on Christ. For those who belong to Him, thank God for His Grace, His Gospel, His saving of you.
