His Works Are Great

Posted on July 16, 2021July 16, 2021
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – July 16th, 2021

Let’s begin by reading (Psalms 111:2)…..”The works of the Lord are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. When I think on the great works of God, I think about the power He has to do them. I think about where our Lord has shown such a great power where it would concern us. Think about these great works of God…….the works of the LORD are great, and they are many, so let me just speak to a few of them.

I. HIS CREATION

God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Think about His mighty power that it would take to do this, and what it says of Himself (Psalm 8:1-9) (Psalm 33:1-9). His great works in creation declare the glory and handiwork of God, His power, and deity (Psalm 19:1-4) (Romans 1:19-20). Studying God’s creation can teach us so much about His glory, power, and His attributes.

II. HIS WORD

David praised the value of God’s Word (Psalm 19:7-11). What does the Scriptures teach us on its importance? Read: (John 6:63) (John 6:68) (Psalm 119:93) (Psalm 119:130) (1 Thessalonians 2:13) (Hebrews 4:12) (1 Peter 1:23). Have you approached God’s word, studied it, meditated on it, delighted in it, so that you could be given comfort, hope, and guidance through it (Romans 15:4) (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Let me just say that studying God’s Word should be a great pleasure for us to do.

III. HIS SALVATION

The salvation of mankind made possible by God’s love (John 1:29) (John 3:16-17) (1 John 4:9-10). Saved by grace through faith and the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Spirit (Titus 3:4-7)(Ephesians 2:8-10). Salvation by Grace through faith involves.

The Rich Mercy of God – His compassion towards us (Ephesians 2:4). 2. Being made alive together (Ephesians 2:5). 3. Being raised together in Christ (Ephesians 2:6-7). For what, (Colossians 2:13). 4. Works done out of a relationship with the LORD through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Being created for good works (Ephesians 2:10) (Titus 2:11-14).

IV. HIS CHURCH

Have you ever thought of His Church (Us) as mighty work of God? We are the Church built by Christ, purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28) (Ephesians 1:7) (Hebrews 9:12-14). His Church is referred to as……. 1. The body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23). Of which Christ is the head (Colossians 2:19). Of which we are members (1 Corinthians 12:26-27). 2. The temple of God – a holy habitation for God (Ephesians 2:19-22). 3. The bride of Christ, we are betrothed to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2).

V. HIS PROMISES

We can look forward to the resurrection (John 5:28-29). We can look forward to new heavens and new earth (2 Peter 3:13) (Revelation 21:1-5).
