It Is Good Give Thanks, Sing Praises, And Declare

Posted on July 16, 2021July 15, 2021
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – July 16th, 2021

(Psalm 92:1)…..It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night,

Notice, the Psalmist tells us that it is not only good to give thanks to the LORD, but also to sing praises to His name, Most High. His name Most High (Hebrew: ‘Elyon) means, lofty, the Supreme, the Upper Most, the One who owns everything. Singing praises is becoming of God’s people, just consider the attitude of David in (Psalm 96:1-2) (Psalm 101:1) (Psalm 111:1) (Psalm 113:1-3) (Psalm 146:1-2) (Psalm 149:1). David was a man after God’s own heart, shouldn’t we be also? It is in the Lord that one finds the ability to “rejoice always” (Philippians 4:4). His salvation is the source of much joy (Psalm 21:1). His mercy is a source of great joy (Psalm 31:6-8). And in His presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

With that, it is good to declare every morning our LORD’s lovingkindness. What does God’s Word tell us of His loving-kindness towards us?

1. It is through Christ – (Ephesians 2:7) (Titus 3:4-6)

2. It is Described as….

  • Abundant – (Nehemiah 9:17)
  • Precious – (Psalm 36:7)
  • Good – (Psalm 69:16)
  • Marvelous – (Psalm 17:7) (Psalm 31:21)
  • Everlasting – (Isaiah 54:8)
  • Merciful – (Psalm 117:2)
  • Better than life – (Psalm 63:3)

Without God’s lovingkindness we would all be condemned, for all of us have sinned. Therefore, we ought to declare His lovingkindness “Every Morning.” And it is good to declare His faithfulness every night. The Bible tells us that God is faithful (Exodus 34:6) (Psalm100:5) (Psalm 117:2). God is faithful to His name (Psalm 106:8). God is faithful to His character. He is faithful with His word. When God says something, He does what He says (Isaiah 25:1). The Bible has much to say about the faithfulness of God

  • His faithfulness is unlimited – (Psalm 36:5)
  • His faithfulness is abounding – (Lamentations 3:22-23)
  • He is faithful to help His people – (1 Corinthians 10:13)
  • He is faithful to those He saves – (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)
  • God is also faithful in all His promises – (Hebrews 2:17)

It is good to give thanks and praise to His name. How are we doing in this area? Is He worthy? Then let’s ask the LORD to help us worship Him this way!
