(Psalm 92:5-10)…..O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. 6 A senseless man does not know, nor does a fool understand this. 7 When the wicked spring up like grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever. 8 But You, Lord, are on high forevermore. 9 For behold, Your enemies, O Lord, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
The Lord does not always do what we think He should, and I am grateful for that. We tend to have thoughts where we think we might do something better than God if we were in control, or in our thoughts we might find ourselves questioning God’s will, such as…..
- I think – “if the Lord would only heal him he would believe
- I think – “If the Lord would only save him
- I think – “Why does God allow the ungodly to prosper?
- I think – “Why do they have to suffer?
- Yet His thoughts are not our thoughts
Yet His thoughts are not our thoughts, read (Romans 11:33-34). There are those who insist on doing things their way. And if God doesn’t do it just the way they want it done they grumble, complain, or quit asking God for anything. But our ways are not His ways. How much higher are the heavens than the earth? Infinitely higher! So are God’s thoughts and ways infinitely higher than ours. We have a limited knowledge of the facts. We have no certain knowledge of our immediate future.
GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE PURE…..OURS’ ARE IMPURE…..GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE RIGHTEOUS…..OURS’ ARE UNRIGHTEOUS…..GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE PERFECT…..OURS’ ARE IMPERFECT.….GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE HOLY…..OURS’ ARE UNHOLY…..GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE ETERNAL…..OURS’ ARE TEMPORAL…..GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE HEAVENLY…..OURS’ ARE EARTHLY
The truth is, God knows things we do not know. God sees things we do not see. God understands things we do not understand. Therefore as high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are HIS thoughts above our thoughts. But not only are GOD’S THOUGHTS NOT OUR THOUGHTS, some Christians don’t realize what God’s thoughts are of them. What does God think of you (Psalm 40:5) (Psalm 139:17-18) (Jeremiah 29:11) (Matthew 10:29-31)
Notice, in our text this morning (92:6) – The senseless man does not know these things about God, and a fool doesn’t understand. Know and understand what? That God is worthy of praise because of He has done great works and His thoughts are deeper than ours.
