(Psalm 7:1-8)…..O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; save me from all those who persecute me; and deliver me, 2 Lest they tear me like a lion, rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. 3 O Lord my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands, 4 If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, or have plundered my enemy without cause, 5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; yes, let him trample my life to the earth, and lay my honor in the dust.

6 Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded! 7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; for their sakes, therefore, return on high. 8 The Lord shall judge the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.
This Psalm is a “Shiggaion” (meditation) of David. It means, wandering, shifting, emotions or movements of thought. It is a song sung by David to the LORD concerning “Cush,” a Benjamite. It is likely that this Psalm concerned the emotions David felt due to the persecution of Saul upon him (1 Samuel 24) (2 Samuel 16:5-14).
In times of trouble, David often wrote Psalms to the LORD. He did this while pursued by Saul, where he wrote – (Psalm 59). When imprisoned in Gath – he wrote (Psalm 56). Fleeing from Absalom, he wrote (Psalm 3). And hiding in the wilderness of Judah he wrote (Psalm 63). From these Psalms we can see how David strengthened himself in the LORD. In (Psalm 59) – David was determined to continue praising God for His help (Psalm 59:16-17). In (Psalm 56) David would place his trust in God to help him (Psalm 56:3-4, 9-11). In (Psalm 63) David overcame by……. 1. By seeking the Lord (Psalm 63:1-2). 2. By praising and praying – (Psalm 63:3-5). 3. By meditating upon the Lord (Psalm 63:6-7). Notice that In each of these Psalms, David is saying the same thing….. In time of trouble (persecution) – put your trust in the LORD! Not in ourselves, or in our circumstances, but in our LORD!
