Jesus Is The Friend Of Sinners

Posted on January 5, 2022January 5, 2022
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – January 5th, 2022

(Matthew 11:19)…..”The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Look, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Jesus had trouble with the religious leaders of His day, because He was a friend of sinners. Jesus is the same today. He never changes. Jesus is your friend.

What does (Luke 19:7) tell us? But when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

Religious people couldn’t understand how Jesus could love a sinner, they certainly did not. But Jesus did, and He still does. Notice what Jesus said to the woman caught in the act of adultery. (John 8:11)…..She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Jesus understands that we are sinners, He is patient with us, compassionate, long-suffering, loving, etc. He came to earth and lived in a human body, so He would be able to redeem us from our sinful state. Jesus knows the pressure you face, He knows the pain that your life has produced, He knows how sin has ravaged you, and Jesus cares. He cares enough to help you be free of the sin that you were born into, and practice; because He knows that sin will separate you from Himself.

Sin may give a temporary pleasure, but in the end sin always destroys. Jesus loves you so much, and does not want you to be destroyed. Today would you take a moment if need be, repent of your sin, and put your faith in Jesus Christ. In doing so, all your sin will be forgiven and wiped away. Please do so, and rejoice that you will be with Jesus in heaven someday.
