a. There is a gentle plea here – exhorting the readers to do what is right before God – weather people realize it or not it’s good for them
• Oh Come! – a sweet invitation! – will you come?
• Let us worship and bow down! – the idea is of community (let us) – together
• Not before a crucifix – not before some graven image – not before a picture – not before some false god or false religion – but before our God
• He is the great King above all god’s – He is the LORD our Make who we must – sing – rejoice – and worship
b. Notice – (95:6) – there are three distinct words that are used here to express three different acts of adoration we are to have towards our God
- Let us worship (shachah – shaw-khaw) – let us prostrate ourselves – the highest act of adoration by which the supremacy of God is acknowledged
- Let us bow down (kara – kaw-rah’) – let us crouch or cower down – sink – to bend the legs under ones self in submission
- Let us kneel (barak – baw-rak) – let us put our knees to the ground – to bless our God – to praise Him – to congratulate Him m- to thank Him
c. We – the redeemed – have at least two great reasons to humbly worship their God
• He is both our Maker and our Redeemer
• We belong to Him twice over – in both creation and redemption
• We have the right to come before God with great gladness – but never without a sense of His majesty.
