Being a servant of God is a great honor. But not many like the idea of being a servant, especially in the likeness of Jesus who gave Himself, who came to serve. He was foretold to come as the – Suffering Servant (Isaiah 52:13-15). He did not come to be served – but to serve – (Matthew 20:27-28) (Philippians 2:7). Even as our Lord and Master – He is the example the servitude that He desires of His disciple(John 13:12-17). Being a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ involves….
- Absolute Obedience
- The slave knows no law but his master’s word
- He has no rights of his own – He is the absolute possession of his master
- He is bound to give his master unquestioning obedience
- Does this describe our relationship to Christ?
- Read: (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) (Matthew 7:21) (Luke 6:46)
- Absolute Humility
- When we have a humble opinion of ourselves – we are receptive to the idea of complete obedience
- Consider Paul – (1 Corinthians 15:9-10) (Ephesians 3:8)
- Absolute Loyalty
- We should seek only to please God – (Galatians 1:10)
- Do not consider our own profit or preference important
In the course of our sojourning in this life – what Kind of servant will we be? Remember, the difference is determined by the direction of your devotion. Will you love the world, or will you love the Lord and His brethren…?
