(Psalm 55:16-18)…..As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. 17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. 18 He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many against me. Take note of what David said in these verses.
David said….”As for me, I will call upon God. David does not say he will call upon a creature, or on idols, or on a image, on angels or saints. But upon God, in his time of trouble, for salvation and deliverance from his enemies. Who is able to save? It is God whom David put his trust in, calling upon God in prayer (Psalms 50:15). “Evening, and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.”
The prayer of the morning was at the time of the morning daily sacrifice. It was about the third hour of the day, the same time the apostles met together for prayer on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1) (Acts 2:15). And that at noon was at the sixth hour of the day, the same time at which Peter went up to the housetop to pray (Acts 10:9). The prayer of the evening was at the time of the evening sacrifice, compare (Psalm 141:2). This was at the ninth hour the same time Peter and John went up to the temple to pray (Acts 3:1). The same time Cornelius prayed in his own house ( Acts 10:30). Though we are not tied down to these exact times of prayer, it teaches us that we ought to pray frequently and fervently morning and evening. Praying with the faith that He will hear our prayer that is according to His will and answer me because we trust in our God (Psalm 5:11) (Psalm 31:19) (Psalm 32:10) (Psalm 115:11) (Psalm 118:8) (Proverbs 3:5) (Isaiah 26:4). Lord please help us in our prayer life, in the morning when we call on you, and in the evening when we thank you.
