Why Trust God?

Posted on May 13, 2022May 12, 2022
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson May 13th, 2022

(Psalm 55:3-4)…..Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me, and in wrath they hate me. 4 My heart is severely pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Having enemies can cause many to be afraid. David was certainly afraid at times, but how did he get victory? He put his trust in God, praising His word. The trust of David involved praising His word. David took God’s word and believed His promises, even in trying times.

When we are tested it is time to trust (James 1:1-4). Do we trust Him (His word) when we are afraid? Does that trust drive away our fear? (1 John 4:17-19) (2 Timothy 1:6-7) (Proverbs 3:5-6). Why should we trust God? Why is He different from anyone or anything else?

Confidence in His character

  1. He never changes – (Hebrews 13:8)
  2. He is faithful – (2 Timothy 2:11-13)
  3. He loves His own – (Psalm 17:6-9)
  4. He loves His own – (Psalm 17:6-9)
  5. He does not lie – (Numbers 23:18-20)

Confidence in His Word – (His Promises)

  1. He does not lie – (Numbers 23:18-20)
  2. His Word is trustworthy – (Psalm 111:7-8)

Confidence in His care for us

  1. He takes care of every need – (Matthew 6:25-34)
  2. All things will work for the good – (Romans 8:28)

What is the benefit of trusting God?

  • He never changes – (Hebrews 13:8)
  • He is faithful – (2 Timothy 2:11-13)

We face many problems today, even as Christians. Some are related to family, personal matters, jobs, finances, etc. In many cases people try to tackle their problems alone without trusting God, But He is the only one we can really trust.
