Redemption Is Costly

Posted on May 18, 2022May 17, 2022
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson May 18th,2022

It is in the worst of times when I need to TRUST in the Lord Jesus Christ. Actually int the best of times too. My faith needs to be placed squarely on Him and His finished work of redemption. Unlike those who trust in their wealth, in their riches, who even trust in their accomplishments, in their standing, in their own pride, in themselves (Romans 1:18). Man cannot buy his way out of God’s judgment, he cannot buy redemption for himself or his brother. Why is it we are commanded to not trust in earthly riches?   Because they are uncertain (1 Timothy 6:17-19). Money can do many things, but it can do nothing to redeem a life or to prevent death. There is only one thing that can redeem us, make us alive, the blood of Jesus (1 Peter 1:18-19).

It is the height of arrogance to think that any person can redeem themselves from the wrath of the just God with money, wealth, power, status, etc. Yet how many try to do just that?  How many reason their resources will deliver them spiritually (Matthew 19:16-22) (Luke 12:13-21)? It is very weak and foolish to trust in riches and not trust in the Living God (1 Timothy 6:6-9).

Man cannot pay the price of redemption that has been set by God. Redemption is to costly, it cannot be purchased with ALL the money in the world. No amount of wealth or riches (even works or good deeds) is ever enough to guarantee ones eternal life in glory. It takes the precious blood of Christ to purchase ones soul (1 Peter 1:17-19). Even if we cannot fully comprehend why Jesus had to die, we should be able to see that the souls of men must be extremely valuable if His death was necessary (Mark 8:34-38).
