Every other month we send a team of Jesus loving men to the Union Gospel Mission is Spokane. We also have a separate (sometimes mixed) team of men that take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the inner-city bus station in Spokane. Each of these men that God is using so amazingly could sit down and tell you of the lack of understanding people have of Christ’s love for them. Such is the case of last night when the team was preaching at the Mission and a young man could not understand that Jesus loved him. He just could not comprehend the truth of that message. It is sad going through life unaware that the God who created you wants fellowship with you because He loves you.
God knows those who are His. He knows if we belong to Him. He knows all our thoughts – our past – our hopes – our ambitions. He knows us better than we know ourselves. so we do not need to worry that our Father in heaven will ever stop loving us (Romans 8:37-39). He knows each of us personally – as a father knows his own child (John 10:14). David understood this (Psalm 139:1-4).
God takes special care to assure you and me that He will always love and care for us. He assures us that we are His calling (Galatians 1:1-4) (2 Timothy 1:8-11) (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14). What else has He done? He made us holy – without blame – in His presence (Colossians 1:21-22). He has allowed us to know Him (John 17:3) (1 John 5:18-21). One of the most powerful things about the love the Father has for His children is that it is unconditional. We do not earn His love – rather – He has purposed to love us – even before we belonged to Him (Romans 5:6-8). We deserved condemnation and judgment – because we are guilty of breaking His law – and we fall short of His glory (Romans 3:10-12) (Romans 6:23). But because the Father loves us – His only begotten Son Jesus Christ was sent for our salvation (Luke 19:10) (1 Timothy 1:15). What a way for our Father to say He loves us. Do you love Him? Tell Him!
