This is the season that we give gifts to those we love. Sometimes we receive gifts we can use, sometimes we don’t. How many spend the days after Christmas taking back things we pretended to enjoy or like? I suppose there are many. Many look to gifts or to holidays to satisfy their lives spiritually, but the ruth is satisfaction in life only comes through one gift. A relationship with Jesus Christ is the greatest gift you could ever receive.
God’s gift of life that is in His Son is not empty, not without thought, not worthless and not a have to. His gift is life giving, It won’t break, it won’t rot away, it won’t rust away, it will not wear out and it will never lose it’s luster or value. It’s a gift that will last for eternity.
What To Do With The Gift That Is Offered?
1. Believe in the gift – To accept a gift the first thing you need to do is believe it’s for you. When a gift has your name on it you know its yours (Romans 3:22-26).
2. Accept the Gift – The second action taken when you believe a gift is for you is then to accept the gift from the gift giver (John 3:35-36) (Romans 10:9-11). What is it that must be believed? It is that God has raised Jesus from the dead. My mouth will confess what my heart believes (Matthew 15:10-20).
3. Open the gift – The third action in receiving presents is to open them, let the gift impact your life
(Ephesians 5:8-16). We need to discover what is acceptable to God.
4. Testify about the gift – When ever we receive a great gift at Christmas we always tell others about it. The same is true for receiving the greatest gift of all, a born again life in Jesus Christ (Psalm 119:46-47) (Romans 1:16) (2 Timothy 1:8-12) (1 Peter 3:13-17).
