God is a just God who will exact severity upon all those who disobey Him. Both the Old and New Testaments are replete with examples of God punishing the disobedient. For example, God drove Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden and from the tree of life. God placed a curse on Cain for murdering his brother Abel. God destroyed the ungodly by a flood because of the greatness of their corruption and sin. God killed Nadab and Abihu, priests and sons of Aaron who were consumed with fire because they dared to violate God’s law regarding the fire that should have been used in the offering of animal sacrifices. God even scattered Israel from off the land of Canaan because of their sins. God is indeed one of severity and warnings can be found in the New Testament concerning punishment for those who refuse to repent and live in (practice) a life of sin (Matthew 7:13-14) (Matthew 25:41). Yes, God is the God of love, of goodness, of mercy and of grace, but He is also the God of justice and severity. Every sin not covered by the blood of His Son must be dealt with and justice must be exacted. Every sinner needs the forgiveness and justification that comes through Jesus Christ, through His blood (Matthew 26:28) (Ephesians 1:7), where we receive the remission of sins (Matthew 26:28).
Without Christ’ substitution of righteousness for our sin we are doomed. If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ and received from Him the remission of your sin, then give Him praise for delivering you from what would have been certain death. If you are still in the class of the wicked, because you refuse to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, then you are without Christ, and in danger of His soon coming judgment.
