(Psalm 7:1-8)…..O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me, 2 lest they tear me like a lion, rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. 3 O Lord my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands, 4 if I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, or have plundered my enemy without cause, 5 let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; Yes, let him trample my life to the earth, and lay my honor in the dust.
Selah
6 Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded! 7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; For their sakes, therefore, return on high. 8 The Lord shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.
We face many problems in life, even as Christians. Some are related to health, to employment, to family, to financial hardships, etc. It’s a guarantee, if you are alive, at some time in your life there will be difficulty. In many cases people try to tackle their problems alone, never seeking the help of the LORD and never putting their trust in the One who can help (Psalm 49:5-7) (Jeremiah 17:5).
This Psalm is what is called a “Shiggaion” (meditation) of David. It means wandering, shifting emotions or movements of thought. It is a song sung by David to the LORD concerning “Cush,” a Benjamin.
In times of trouble David often wrote Psalms to the LORD
- While pursued by Saul – he wrote (Psalm 59)….Read: (v.1-4)
- When imprisoned in Gath – he wrote (Psalm 56)….Read: (v.1-2)
- Fleeing from Absalom – he wrote (Psalm 3)….Read: (v.1-2)
- Hiding in the wilderness of Judah – he wrote (Psalm 63)
From these Psalms we can see how David strengthened himself in the LORD
- In (Psalm 59) – David was determined to continue praising God for His help – (Psalm 59:16-17)
- In (Psalm 56) – David would place his trust in God to help him – (Psalm 56:3-4, 9-11)
Have you been thinking about who to trust? Is there something in your life troubling you, go to Jesus this morning and realize He can help you. Put your trust in Him!
