The Word of God has certain characteristics. It is perfect, right, pure and righteous (Psalm 19:7-8). You would be surprised how many people do not believe that about God’s Word. Yet it is trustworthy (Psalm 111:7-8). It is true (Psalm 119:142, 151, 160) (John 17:17). It is inspired (2 Peter 1:21).
The Word of God has an effect on us because it is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). It is not just a bunch of words that God threw on paper. It is not just a book of good thoughts. It is living, it is life changing, it is powerful as it works in us, on us, and through us.
What will God’s word do for us in the Christians walk? It helps us battle sin that desires to have us (Psalm 119:9-11). So knowing God’s Word, by experience, by application, enables us to say no to sin and yes to righteousness. qLord help us to walk in the victory of this truth today. Amen!
