(Psalm 78:4)…..We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
This is our commission too. We are to tell the generations to come the praises of the Lord, to tell them of His stregnth and the wonderful works He has done, and that we might give testimony that God’s word is good (Psalm 19:7). The generations to come must hear the praises of our God from our own lips. They must hear…..
- Of Praise Itself – (Psalm 35:28) (Psalm 51:15) (Psalm 119:64) (Psalm 71:6) (Psalm 146:2)
- Of His Power – (Psalm 33:6) (Psalm 62:11) (Psalm 65:6) (Psalm 145:6)
- Of His Great Works – (Genesis 1:1-3) (Psalm 8:3)
Also, His great works like, mercy, forgiveness, redemption, holiness, righteousness, propitiation, justification, etc. As Israel was suppose to do to their families, and the generations to follow them by giving testimony to God’s power and works, we are to do also.
- That those after us may know God’s word
- That those after us may arise and declare it to their children
- That those after us may set their hope in God
- That those after us may not forget His works
- That those after us may keep His commandments
- That those after us may not be like our generation, a stubborn and rebellious generation who’s hearts are not right, who’s spirit is not faithful to God
- In order for the next generation to hear of God’s word, of His power, of His works. We must know His word.
