I thought today we could start an adventure through (2 Timothy) in our Daily Devotions. I hope it will be encouraging for each of you as we work our way through this great epistle. Ok let’s get started. In Paul’s opening words to Timothy, Paul reminds Timothy who his epistle is really from. Notice, just who Paul gives credit to, (1:2)….Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. It is in these words where Timothy (and us) are reminded that we share in the same faith, serving the same God and the same Lord. While serving together in the same ministry, we should never forget that it is made possible only by God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
What wondrous works God has done so we can fulfill the ministry He has laid out for us
First – there is life in Christ Jesus – (1:1)
This promise of life in Christ was needed to stir up Timothy to stand and fulfill his calling with boldness. Let us be reminded to stay at the task because He has given us life – (2 Timothy 1:10). Many scriptures refer to eternal life as a future blessing (Mark 10:28-30) (Titus 1:2) (Titus 3:7) (Romans 6:22). Many think of eternal life this way as a future blessing with a perfect environment, free from death, sorrow, and pain. All this is true! But eternal life in Christ Jesus is more than just a hope regarding a future blessing, it is a present possession for the one abiding in Christ (1 John 5:11-13). I hope this morning that you have the Son.
