Women play a very vital and crucial role in the growth and development of the local church. In the Scriptures we read of many women who served the body of Christ well…..Phoebe in (Romans 16:1-2)…..Priscilla in (Romans 16:3-4)…..Mary in (Romans 16:6)…..and Tryphena – Tryphosa – Persis – in (Romans 16:12). Even today, the growth of many churches is the result of the labor by its women. Notice just how two women Paul addressed served the body of Christ (2 Timothy 1:5). By the way, Grandmothers and mothers can teach children, as Lois and Eunice did Timothy (2 Timothy 3:14-15).
Also, older women can and should teach younger women in the faith (Titus 2:3-5). Especially where there are people who come into the church without the benefit of godly mothers and grandmothers. With so many dysfunctional families and emotional problems today, the gift of encouragement and nurturing possessed by many women is essential. There is a special need for women to see themselves as teachers of young people and other women and as encouragers in the body. I thank God for the women here at the church I pastor. Without you, and your involvement in the body of Christ, we wouldn’t be the body we need to be – so thanks!
