When a gift has your name on it you know its yours. So you wait with anticipation for the day you get to open the gift. Do you remember that when you were a kid? You couldn’t even sleep the night before, because you knew Christmas morning was the day. When the morning came you tore into the present like there was no tomorrow. So what do you do when theft to be had was salvation in Jesus Christ. The long awaited gift that has now been given to you. Are you just as excited as you have been with gifts from the World. What a gift of righteousness we have been given, so glorious, so needed (Romans 3:22-26). What should I do with such a heavenly gift?
- Accept the Gift…..When you believe a gift is for you, you accept the gift from the gift giver (John 3:35-36) (Romans 10:9-11). What is it that must be believed – notice – it is that God has raised Jesus from the dead. My mouth will confess what my heart believes (Matthew 15:10-20)
- Open the gift…..The next action after receiving presents is to open them – let the gift impact your life (Ephesians 5:8-16). I need to discover what is acceptable to God
- Testify about the gift…..When ever we receive a great gift at Christmas we always tell others about it. The same is true for receiving the greatest gift of all, a born again life in Jesus Christ (Psalm 119:46-47) (Romans 1:16) (2 Timothy 1:8-12) (1 Peter 3:13-17).
