Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – February 14th, 2024
(Psalm 55:22)…..Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
In the trial that David was going through, what did his flesh want…..(Psalm 55:6-8)…..So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. 7 Indeed, I would wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah 8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.” But notice where David arrives at in the trial he is going through, again, Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. David proclaims in this Psalm what God’s children are suppose to do. Everyone has burdens at one time or other – for self – for others – for sickness – for disease – for pain – etc. No matter the burden – the Lord can take it – and bear it – so you don’t have to (Matthew 11:28-30). Nobody else can better take your burden–not a husband – not your wife – not a friend – not a pastor. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man (Psalm 118:8-9)
David had no doubt that God would take care of him – He would sustain him. He can surely sustain us and meet our needs–and if you cast your burden upon Him – He will (Psalm 37:17) (Isaiah 41:10) (Isaiah 46:4) (Romans 8:28). He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
So what does that mean for you and me? Give God your burdens – every day – cast your care upon Him – pray to Him. Have the boldness of David – that God will never allow you to be moved.
