Vital Is Jesus’ Resurrection

Posted on February 21, 2024February 25, 2024

Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson – February 21st, 2024

Many people today do not believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But for the believer (the disciple of Jesus Christ) the resurrection of Jesus Christ is an actual, true, event that is reason for our celebration in the spring. It is a foundational truth without which the gospel ceases to be good news. If Christ was not raised from the grave then nothing we do in the faith has any meaning (1 Corinthians 15:12-19).

So what significance does the resurrection have for us? Let me give you five reasons. First, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ we see the clear demonstration of the power of the True God towards us who believe (Ephesians 1:15-21). Second, the resurrection declares to us that He is who He said he was, Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Romans 1:1-4). Third, our salvation depends on our faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9). This means that you or I cannot be a Christian unless we believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Wow! Our faith has to have some substance to it, go figure. But that faith in His resurrection is so vital, because we are justified by Jesus’ resurrection because it secured our justification (Romans 4:20-25) (Romans 8:31-34). Fourth, it restores to us a living hope, and an inheritance (1 Peter 1:3-5). And Fifth, So that we would have faith and hope in God (1 Peter 1:20-21). This morning give the Lord praise for His resurrection.
