Continuing with the topic of Disciple making from last week, when it comes to being a disciple of Jesus Christ…….

  1. Jesus must come first
  • Made strikingly clear by Jesus Himself – (Luke 14:25-26)
  • Before anyone else – (Matthew 10:34-37)
  • Even before one’s own self – (Luke 9:23-25)
  • They left their business and family – (Matthew 4:20-22)
  • As Peter would say later – “we have left all and followed You” – (Matthew 19:27)
  • Jesus requires the same for us today – (Matthew 6:33)
  1. Willing to suffer for Christ
  • Taking up our own

The marks of a disciple of Christ are seen in one who……

  1. Abides in Jesus’ words
  • Note what Jesus said to those who believed in Him – (John 8:31)
  • This would imply being a diligent student of the teachings of Christ
  • It also requires one to be a “doer” of the Word – (Matthew 7:21-27) (James 1:21-25)
  1. Loves the brethren
  • Consider what Jesus said to His followers – (John 13:34-35)
  • With a love patterned after the love of Jesus – “as I have loved you”
  • With a love that is visible

Through faith people such as these Joshua and David subdued nations. Joshua, conquering Palestine (Joshua 12:7-24). David, conquering neighboring nations (2 Samuel 5:4-25) (8:1-14). David worked righteousness (administered justice) as king (2 Sam 8:15….So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people. Solomon, as king, did the same (1 Kings 3:28….And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice. Others …

(John 14:26)…..”But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. You can’t find a teacher like this in the world. The Holy Spirit is the only teacher that knows everything by the way. Can you imagine what He wants to teach to those who belong to Christ Jesus? What a wonderful, magnificent, long-suffering, loving, gentle, kind, patient, teacher the Holy Spirit is! He (the Holy Spirit) has no limits …

As His Dear Child Imitate God

Did you know that the Bible tells you to imitate God? Really, it does!

It tells us be imitators of God, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. That is exactly what Jesus has done for us. Just as earthly children imitate their parents, children of God are supposed to imitate their Heavenly Father. In what way are we to imitate God? Should we try to create planets? people? …

True Christianity is not a religion based on rules and rituals, but a living relationship with Jesus Christ, who is living Himself. Many people have reduced Christianity down to attending church, church meetings, bible studies, potlucks, various events, etc., and trying not to commit a list of certain sins. But being a Christian is being united with Jesus, a member of His body, sealed with His Spirit, called as His child, etc.

Jesus should be our focus, not any religious activity. The person of Jesus, the Lord and Christ, He demands …

God So Loved the World

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. God so loved me, (insert your name here), that He gave…….What did God give me? He gave me His only Son (John 3:16). He gave me the gift of righteousness (Romans 5:17). What did God give me? He gave me eternal life through Jesus my Lord (Romans 6:23). What did God give me? With Jesus He freely gave me all things (Romans 8:32). What did God give …

Try Singing This Morning

May 23rd, 2023

We are told in the word of God to sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. No doubt God, who makes everything, made you and I for the praising of Him. Five times Scripture tells us to sing to the Lord a new song. You, with God’s help, can sing a song to the Lord that’s never been sung before. Don’t say you can’t do it! God made your mouth and He can give you words to sing. God is a Creator, and you …

All God’s Promises

Posted on May 22, 2023May 22, 2023

Read: (2 CORINTHIANS 1:20)

It is true, the yes to all of God’s promises is in Christ, and through Christ we say yes to the glory of God. Although the entire Bible is a message to us today, not all of it is written directly to us, so we do need to rightly divide the Bible. But since all the promises of God are yes in Christ — they find their fulfillment in Him — we can take any promise of blessing in the entire Bible and appropriate it by faith.

God has blessed us with every blessing in Christ …

God’s Word Is So Important!

(Matthew 4:4)…..But He answered and said, “It is written, `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'”

When Jesus faced the devil’s temptations as recorded in Matthew chapter four, His first response was to quote (Deuteronomy 8:3). God wants us to learn the same lesson that Jesus knew: Nothing is more important than God’s Word. Without the Word, your life will be less than God intends. The Word of God is vital! Just read (Deuteronomy 8:2-3)…..”And you shall remember that …
