Let’s address three truths concerning communion that every Christian should realize

1. Communion is a proclamation that Jesus is the Perfect Substitute for the sinner – He died in our place

• As a substitute He bore our sins – (1 Peter 2:24-25) (Hebrews 9:28)
• As a substitute He carried our guilt – (Isaiah 53:4, 5, 8, 12) (Galatians 3:13)
• As a substitute He died our death – (Hebrews 2:9)
• As a substitute He became the sin-offering for us

Notice what God’s word says in (1 Corinthians 11:26). Now notice the word proclaim in that verse. The word proclaim is (kataggello) – {kat-ang-gel-lo} in the greek, and means to declare openly, to declare plainly, or to tell out loud. Whenever we share together in the Lord’s Supper we are making a public confession of faith. We are making an open declaration of salvation. A bold announcement that we believe in the death, burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We are not kids anymore! Well at least some of us. But we are not so old that we have forgotten our youth, and those lust we had back then. Lusts that grabbed and pulled our hearts from devotion to the Lord. Some of those lusts were not bad in themselves, but they stole from us time and fellowship with the Savior. How is a servant of the Lord suppose to act when faced with foolish and ignorant disputes about the Scriptures? What should be our response to those who only want to cause strife in the body of Christ, without a heart to learn. Remember what Paul told Timothy, when he was supposed to deal with those who were striving over words. Yes, this was going on in the body of Christ in his day?

What do you enjoy? What is the desire of your life? The worlds is full of things to enjoy, and full of things that strive for our desires. Yet for the Christian (the believer in Jesus Christ), you should enjoy the Lord, and He must be your desire to know, love, live for, and not just serve Him out of obligation.

In Christ, we live, move, and have our being. He is the source and the sustainer of our lives.(Acts 17:28)…..“In him, we live and move and have our being.” Just as the body cannot survive without physical breath, our souls find their true life in Christ. In Him, we find not just existence but abundant life. Christ’s presence in our lives is our daily sustenance. He is the constant, unseen source of strength, guidance, and comfort.
