It is Jesus’ authority over death that I want to speak on this morning. Not to discourage you, but to give you hope. In truth, only the true Christian has reason to face death with confidence. We could give many reasons why we should love our Lord, certainly He is certainly worthy of it. We know the Scriptures declare to us just how deep and passionate that love should be (Mark 12:29-31). Can we say individually that we love the Lord with that much intensity? We have a very pivotal command here for every Christian – a command that is at the very heart of Christianity.

Good morning Christians! At least, that is who I want to address this morning. I thought it would be good to point out just what God wants from His saints today.

We ought to walk in the light – (1 John 1:5-10)

• Light represents what is pure – what is true – what is holy – what is reliable
• Light exposes the wickedness of sin (darkness)
• If we want to have fellowship with God – we must be cleansed (put away) the practice of sin in our lives

There are many reasons or excuses people don’t read their bibles, such as, “I’m a busy person. I have a lot to do. Why should I spend my time reading the Bible? I don’t have time to do all I need to do as it is.”

Or, “I already believe in Jesus Christ, that He’s the Son of God and my Savior. I’ve already heard the Gospel.”
