When I mention the word study what comes to mind? Is it school, library, detention, boring, cheating, or to much work? There is a culture today being trained in the art of laziness, cheating, menial effort in academia, in the work force, and it all stems from today’s culture and education that teaches the get it quick mindset, the I don’t have to work at it mindset, the I don’t need to study mindset. The sad thing is this attitude has crept into the body of Christ too where the life …

Charge Them
We to need to keep reminding people, both those of the church and those outside the church, that is both the saved and the unsaved, about the truth found in scripture. Even if we (they) may know these truths already, we need to be reminded again and again that truth found in God’s word. And I will do it (we will do it), Lord willing, as long as God allows. Actually, we all should be reminding one another about the faith, and living for Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:12-15). What is …
The Greatness of Prayer
(Isaiah 40:31)…..But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
I preached on Prayer today at RBC, from (Psalm 119:145-152) showing the Psalmist heart in crying out to the Lord. A study of (Psalm 119) will reveal what prayer ought to be in the believers life. Most people look at prayer only as asking God for things. If that defines your prayer life, you are really missing out. …
Pray Without Ceasing
Paul’s conscience bore witness to the fact that he prayed for Timothy night and day without ceasing. What great love we see here of one brother for another, to take the time daily to pray. This needs to be our agenda, so we do not sin against God (1 Samuel 12:19-23). It is God’s will for us to pray without ceasing (Romans 12:9-13) (Ephesians 6:17-18) (Colossians 4:2) (1 Thessalonians 5:17). How can we possible pray without ceasing?
- Establish some set times to pray – consider….
- David – (Psalm 55:16-17)
Don’t Be Afraid
Everyone knows what it’s like to be afraid. We all have things that we’ve been afraid of in life. Things such as death, heights, the dark, people, of what people may say or think, of not meeting other peoples or standards, and much more. There is even a fear in the physical that is good for us to take heed of, fear that keeps us from driving 200+ mph, fear of picking up a rattle snake, or jumping off a building, or any other foolish thing one could think of.
Now, there …
Women, l Thank You!
Women play a very vital and crucial role in the growth and development of the local church. In the Scriptures we read of many women who served the body of Christ well…..Phoebe in (Romans 16:1-2)…..Priscilla in (Romans 16:3-4)…..Mary in (Romans 16:6)…..and Tryphena – Tryphosa – Persis – in (Romans 16:12). Even today, the growth of many churches is the result of the labor by its women. Notice just how two women Paul addressed served the body of Christ (2 Timothy 1:5). By the way, Grandmothers and …
Faith That Pleases God
So what kind of faith would be considered genuine, the faith that pleases God. It is faith that is a strong conviction. Such is the Biblical definition of faith (Hebrews 11:1). In God and His promises (Hebrews 11:6). It is faith that believes God raised Jesus from the dead, and this faith is necessary for our salvation (Romans 10:9-10). It is faith that is proven by walking in the light (1 John 1:5-7). It is a faith that keeps His commandments (1 John 2:3-6). It is …
Hold Fast To Sound Word’s
We have many reasons as Christians to not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ. For one, He is a great and marvelous Lord, and for two, His gospel is a great and marvelous message. Our greatest concern should be whether we will be ashamed when the Lord returns:
- (1 John 2:28)….And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
We have seen and heard in Paul’s words to Timothy – the charge …
Pauls Powerful Gospel
Paul knew the power of God. He knew that the gospel of Christ that he proclaimed was powerful. Even though to some it might seem foolishness, it is powerful. What power is contained in the gospel of Christ you might ask?
- The power to save those who believe – (Romans 1:16)
- The power to cause one to be born again – (1 Peter 1:22-25)
- The power to work effectively in those who believe – (1 Thessalonians 2:13)
- The power to produce fruit in those who know and understand it – (Colossians
Bold and Unashamed
Many people have been embarrassed about being a Christian in our culture, especially in a work place or home where Christianity is ridiculed or shunned. As with Paul the Apostle, our Lord wants us to be bold in our faith and to be able to stand with the same confidence as Paul. So how does one over come shame? How did Paul do it? Let me first say it is completely the work of the Lord in us (Philippians 2:13), and not us alone. Here are some things we see …
