Man left alone, without Christ, will produce his own philosophy of who God is, and his own philosophy about eternal things (Romans 1:20-23). But, as (1 Corinthians 1:20) tells us, God has destroyed the wisdom of the wise, the scribe, and the disputer (philosopher) of this age, making them look foolish. How? God in His wisdom established that men/women would never find God through worldly wisdom (human intellect) no matter how hard they tried. Instead, it pleased God to make Himself known through the preaching of the gospel, saving …
#53 – After These Things
The phrase after this (meta tauta in Greek) is repeated twice in (Revelation 4:1). The Bible has other important references to heaven, in passages such as (Isaiah 6:1-8) (Ezekiel 1), and in passages describing the Tabernacle, which symbolically describes heaven (Exodus 25-32) (Exodus 35-40).
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
After these things. After …
Put Your Trust In The Lord
O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me, 2 Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. 3 O Lord my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands, 4 If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause, 5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; Yes, let him trample …
Watch The Words You Use
The words that we speak really do reveal what is in our heart. Out of the abundance of the heart -the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:33-37). Notice – it is a result of the treasure stored in our heart (Matthew 12:35). Consider for a moment what your words reveal about you? Our words can sometimes hurt other peopleLying and flattery can be destructive – (Proverbs 26:28)
Gossip creates strife and can destroys friendships (Proverbs 16:27-28) (Proverbs 17:9). Neighborly relations can be destroyed(Proverbs 11:9).
Instead, we can …
From Such Turn Away
Again we are looking at the text of (2 Timothy 3:1-5)…..But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! In these 3 verses, Paul describes the kind of people who …
Lord Jesus Come Quickly
(2 Timothy 3:1-5)…..But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. “It Is Well With My Soul”
Did you know, the song “It Is Well With My Soul” was written by a successful Christian lawyer? His name was Heratio Spafford. His only son died at age 4 in 1871. In 1872, the great Chicago fire wiped out his vast estate, made from a successful legal career. In 1873 he sent his wife and four daughters over to Europe on a summer trip on the ill fated SS Ville du Havre. Since he had a lot of work to do, he planned to follow them later. The ship sank and he lost …
The God Of His Scripture
Here is a little nugget I have had laying around in my files for some years now, so I thought it would be a wonderful thing to share for our devotion this morning. This is a wonderful little tool for you to see the work of the Lord in His sovereign plan from all eternity, and from cover to cover of God’s word where every book speaks of Christ. Hope you enjoy it!

A Disciple Of Jesus Christ
At the beginning of His ministry, Jesus called people to become His disciples. Men like Simon and Andrew – (Mark 1:16-18), James and John – (Mark 1:19-20). At the conclusion of His ministry, Jesus sent His apostles to make more disciples – (Matthew 28:19), teaching them to observe all that He had commanded – (Matthew 28:20). A disciple is a learner, a follower; to be a disciple of Jesus means that we follow Jesus. But as Jesus mentions in our text, such discipleship requires …
