Here is a comment by Augustine that was cited in Spurgeon’s writings…….“Verily, my brethren, there is no sea so deep as these thoughts of God, who maketh the wicked flourish, and the good suffer: nothing so profound, nothing so deep: therein every unbelieving soul is wrecked, in that depth, in that profundity. Dost thou wish to cross this depth? Remove not from the wood of Christ’s cross; and thou shalt not sink: hold thyself fast to Christ.” The wicked (senseless man) does not understand or notice the great works …

(Psalm 92:5-10)…..O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. ⁶ A senseless man does not know, nor does a fool understand this. ⁷ When the wicked spring up like grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever. ⁸ But You, Lord, are on high forevermore. ⁹ For behold, Your enemies, O Lord, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

The Lord does not always do what we think He should, …

Let’s begin by reading (Psalms 111:2)…..”The works of the Lord are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. When I think on the great works of God, I think about the power He has to do them. I think about where our Lord has shown such a great power where it would concern us. Think about these great works of God…….the works of the LORD are great, and they are many, so let me just speak to a few of them.

I. HIS CREATION

God created the heavens …

(Psalm 92:1)…..It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night,

Notice, the Psalmist tells us that it is not only good to give thanks to the LORD, but also to sing praises to His name, Most High. His name Most High (Hebrew: ‘Elyon) means, lofty, the Supreme, the Upper Most, the One who owns everything. Singing praises is becoming of God’s people, just consider the attitude …

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD.” There is much to be thankful for – *life, *health, *food clothing, *air – *water housing, *income – *etc. But more importantly – *calling – repentance – redemption – salvation – justification – sanctification – the hope of heaven – assurance of salvation – etc. It is “GOOD” – the effect of giving thanks to LORD – is that it tends to a happy life – a life of contentment – a life of happiness – and a life of peace. …

 It is important that you and I have good examples to follow, men and women who are dependable, knowledgeable in the word, solid in the faith. Who enjoy a wonderful relationship with God (Philippians 4:8-9). Who remain steadfast in their walk (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). Who is it that should be an example worth following?
