“There Is Power In God’s gospel”

Posted on March 3, 2022March 22, 2022
Daily Devotion With Pastor Dan Nickerson March 3-3 -22

God’s word tells us that the Gospel is the “power of God,” (Romans 1:16)….for it is the power of God.…The word “power” comes from a word that refers to the “might – energy – strength that dwell within God.” From it comes the english word “dynamite.” When God takes a lost sinner and saves him by His grace and makes him a new creature (creation) that is a powerful thing. So powerful, so explosive is the power of the gospel, that no flesh and bone can remain unaffected by it when it is spoken and heard.

In God’s Word there is the power? Even though it is a foolish message to some people, the gospel shows us the mighty, explosive power of God, He is powerful! – – (Psalm 33:8-9)

(Psalm 107:20)….He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

(Isaiah 55:11)….So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

(Isaiah 40:8)….The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

(1 Peter 1:22-25)

d. Many people don’t want to – see – hear – read – the Word of God today

  • In doing so they are avoiding the life changing power of God’s Word!
  • People – we need to – read it – hear it – meditate on it – and believe it!
  • There is a great need in our world to hear the unadulterated Word of God

4. Salvation – The Purpose Of The Gospel

a. The word salvation – means – safety – preservation – deliverance

  • It carries the idea of being rescued from all harm and danger

b. In it there is for the believer….

  • Justification – (Romans 5:18-19)….Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
  • Redemption – (Ephesians 1:7)….In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
  • Grace – (Romans 3:24)….Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
  • Propitiation – (Romans 3:25)….Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (Sacrifice – payment) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God:
  • Reconciliation – (Romans 5:10-11)….For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
  • Forgiveness – (Ephesians 1:7)….In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;…..(Colossians 1:14)….In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
  • Sanctification – To make holy or set apart for God
(I Corinthians 6:11).…And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

c. Who is this salvation from God for?

  • Notice that it is to “every one that believeth” – that is to him that is believing
  • Read: (John 3:16) (John 5:24) (John 6:47) (Acts 16:31)
  • Do you believe the Word of God about His Son?

5. Righteousness Imputed

a. The product of the Gospel in the life of the believer is “righteousness” – (v.17)

  • When the Gospel of Jesus Christ is confessed with ones mouth – believed on in the heart – God takes the sinners and declares him to be righteous
  • Read: (Isaiah 64:6)

b. This righteousness is imputed righteousness – God sees us in the righteousness of Christ

  • That is the Christian is now accepted by God only because of what Jesus Christ has done for him/her
  • Read: (Philippians 3:8-9)

c. His righteousness is revealed in us “from faith to faith” mean?

  • That is – the righteousness of God is revealed in the believer’s life from “beginning faith” to “ending faith”
  • The just shall live by faith
  • True faith is not a one time event – instead it is to be a way of life for the believer

6. Conclusion

a. Do you believe the gospel of Christ?

  • May it never be a shame for any of us!
  • The same powerful gospel that was able to save then – can save now
  • I hope you believe it – and share it
